Yahoo forges tentative search partnership with Google

Yahoo has forged a tentative search partnership with Google now that its exclusivity agreement with Microsoft has expired.

Google search ads will appear in some of its desktop and mobile queries during the trial, Digital Spy said citing The New York Times.

"As we work to create the absolute best experiences for Yahoo users, from time to time, we run small tests with a variety of partners including search providers," said Yahoo in a statement.

Yahoo's search results were previously provided exclusively by Microsoft's Bing, but that agreement came to an end in April.

The Marissa Mayer-led firm is now free to pursue other partners for 49% of its results, as it appears to be doing with Google.

Google pursued a search alliance with Yahoo back in 2008, but that deal was scuppered by the Justice Department's antitrust division.
