Turkish police detain 30 in anti-corruption operation in Istanbul

Turkish police detained 30 people in an anti-corruption operation on Friday, July 10, in Istanbul, according to Hurriyet Daily News.

Police from the Istanbul Finance Bureau conducted searches of 34 different addresses as part of a two-year investigation, security sources said.

Thirty people, including state and local municipality workers, are accused of “organizing a crime syndicate for the purpose of generating financial profit.” Those arrested also face misconduct and bribery charges.

State workers are accused of taking bribes in exchange for passing information to real-estate companies.
