ANPO to mark Genocide centennial with concert in Lebanon

To commemorate the Armenian Genocide centennial, the Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra (ANPO) and Hover State Chamber Choir will give a concert at Beiteddine Palace of Lebanon on August 8.

Conducted by maestro Eduard Topchjan and with solo performances by Sergey Khachatryan (violin), as well as Irina Zakyan (soprano), Berj Karazian (tenor), Narine Ananikyan (mezzo soprano), Sargis Bazhbeuk-Melikyan (baritone), the concert will feature Khachaturian’ Spartacus Ballet Suites, Brahms’ Violin Concerto in D major, and Mozart Requiem in D minor, ANPO website reports.

ANPO’s worldwide tour in commemoration of the Armenian Genocide centennial kicked off on April 11 at the Tampere Hall (Finland), the biggest music hall of Scandinavia. The orchestra gave concerts in three Scandinavian countries, and went on to perform in the United States and Mexico on May 8-14, and in London July 12.
