Matenadaran gets works by Iranian-Armenian artists

The collection of Matenadaran, the Mesrop Mashtots Institute of Ancient Manuscripts, was replenished with works by two Armenian-Iranian artists, Antoine-Khan Sevruguin and his son André "Darvish" Sevrugian.

A descendant to the artists, Emmanuel Sevruguin made the donation.

Sevruguins' works are displayed in many famous museums around the world, and much research has been performed on their art. Ancient eastern culture is an inspiration for Sevruguins' creations.

To prepare the collection for public display, Matenadaran management plans to organize a series of exhibitions, including thematic ones, publish albums, as well as to hold a thematic seminar.

Matenadaran management also emphasizes the importance of thorough and comprehensive study of the collections, their further examination in scientific circles and the accessibility for researchers.
