Armenian language classes to be offered in Nevada

For the first time in Las Vegas and the state of Nevada, U.S., Armenian language classes will be offered at the College of Southern Nevada (CSN). Dr. Vartouhi Filhanessian-Asherian obtained CSN approval to design and teach Elementary Armenian I, Asbarez reports.

Dr. Asherian visited the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Armenia in Las Vegas and expressed her excitement to be able to offer this course at CSN. Dr. Asherian worked closely with the International Language Department Chair Dr. Ken Umland to develop the curriculum. Classes are open for all students over the age of 16.

This course is an elementary level Armenian course designed for learners to acquire the Armenian alphabet, grammatical structure, reading, writing, and to practice the spoken language in the context of daily living. This course will help learners expand their knowledge of the Armenian culture and people as well.
