Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan will discuss China’s involvement in the implementation of Armenia-Iran railway construction project during his visit to the country, according to Panorama.am.

As Transport and Communications Minister of Armenia Gagik Beglaryan told reporters after the government session last week, the Chinese side put forward a number of proposals concerning the implementation of Armenia-Iran railway construction project.

Earlier, Abrahamyan was quoted by the press service of the Armenian government as saying that the trade and economic relations with Iran have intensified, with other programs to be carried out in the near future.

"The Iran-Armenia railway construction has never been declared an easily feasible project," the minister of transport and communication said today (August 18), reiterating earlier promises to achieve the existing problems’ solution within the shortest possible timeframes, Tert.am reports.

“We have never announced that the railway will be easy to build or we are not facing any problems at all. The railway’s construction is important for us all, and I think you all have to offer help,” Gagik Beglaryan told reporters.

Commenting on China’s interest in the project, the minister said he knows that the country attached much importance to the railway corridor, with the Chinese president having allocated money to assist in its construction.

“All the organizations that have worked in such projects are interested to have their own part in the railway’s construction,” he added.
