Google adds tweets to desktop searches

Google has expanded its partnership with Twitter to include embedded tweets in desktop searches, Digital Spy reports.

The mutually-beneficial agreement brings real-time information to web searches and exposes Twitter posts to a larger audience.

Users who have received the update will see a feed of relevant tweets alongside their search results and be able to search through Twitter hashtags on Google.

The deal is an extension of an existing partnership between the two web giants which previously saw tweets incorporated into mobile search results.

The move is good news for Twitter, which battled staggered user-base growth and declining stock value during the last quarter.

Twitter is currently seeking a new permanent CEO following the departure of Dick Costolo in July.
