EU developing new partnership agreement with Armenia: Minister

The European Union is preparing a new version of agreements with Belarus and Armenia, which will bind these countries and the EU far less than the association agreement, Jean Asselborn, Luxembourg’s Minister for Foreign and European Affairs said, according to RIA Novosti.

“We understand that the association agreement is impossible and are ready to find a lighter, less persistent and fundamental version. This is not an association agreement. It will be something on a lower level, but I cannot say what it is called,” Asselborn noted.

“We made an offer to Armenia and got positive response,” the Minister went on to say.

He also stated that no customs privileges would be included in the agreement. "Now we are just developing the project," Asselborn said in response to a request to elaborate on the new agreement.
