Comedian Sarah Silverman goes dramatic in “I Smile Back” trailer

In the first trailer for “I Smile Back”, Sarah Silverman shows that behind the facade of a seemingly happy woman is a person who suffered from drug abuse, depression and disillusionment, TheWrap reports.

“I Smile Back” follows Laney (Silverman), an attractive, intelligent suburban wife, who seems to have it all: two adorable children, the perfect husband (Josh Charles) and a pristine house. However, beneath it all is a life of depression and disillusionment that send her careening into a secret world of reckless compulsion. Only very real danger will force her to open her eyes and see how her decisions affect the people around her.

“Nobody tells you it’s terrifying to love something so much,” Silverman says in the video.

The Broad Green Pictures film is directed by Alan Salky, and written by Amy Koppelman and Paige Dylan. It stars Silverman, Charles, Thomas Sadoski and Mia Barron.

The film will screen at Toronto International Fim Festival on Sept. 16, 17, and 19, after Broad Green acquired the rights to the film after its premiere at Sundance in January.
