Kremlin says Moscow-Washington talks on Syria indispensable

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Tuesday, September 15 that dialogue between Moscow and Washington on solving the Syria crisis was indispensable, Reuters reports.

Peskov made the comments when asked whether talks on Syria were possible between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Barack Obama.

Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin has pledged continued military support for Syria's Bashar al-Assad despite growing concerns over Moscow's role in the war, BBC News reports.

Putin urged other countries to join Russia in sending "military-technical assistance".

He said the influx refugees to Europe would have been "even bigger" without Russian support for Syria's government.
