Amazon launches kid-friendly tablet priced $99

Amazon unveiled Thursday, September 17, a slew of new tablets, including a new Kids Edition tablet, VentureBeat reports.

Amazon first released the kid-friendly tablet last year for a $150. Now it is dropping the price to $99.

The new device comes with updated durable casing that the company promises to replace if destroyed by an unruly child. In addition, Amazon is including a year’s subscription to FreeTime Unlimited, its apparently kid-appropriate entertainment network. The service gives kids access to 20,000 websites and YouTube videos.

Amazon also launched a new $50 Fire tablet today, and revamped its Fire TV and Fire TV Stick, VentureBeat says.

The $50 device sports an impressive 1.3GHZ quad-core processor, 7-inch display, front- and rear-facing cameras, and 8GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 128GB via microSD. It’s open for pre-orders now, and will start shipping from September 30.
