More talks necessary for parties to tackle Karabakh issue: U.S. envoy

Addressing the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, the U.S. ambassador to Azerbaijan said that measures are currently underway to resolve the issue, Azerbaijani news agency APA reports.

Robert Cekuta noted that the OSCE Minsk Group U.S. Co-chair and his Russian and French colleagues take the issue seriously.

"Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia are scheduled to meet as part of the UN General Assembly,” Cekuta said. “U.S. Co-chair James Warlick met with the internally displaced people in July in Azerbaijan. To solve this problem, corresponding steps must be taken."

Commenting on the upcoming ministerial meeting in New York, the ambassador stressed the importance of creating conditions for the parties to continue negotiations.

Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova addressed the Nagorno Karabakh conflict at a traditional briefing.

“As you know, Russia is actively involved in the settlement process as a responsible participant in the peaceful resolution of the conflict,” Zakharova said. “Therefore, we will do everything necessary to resolve the issue.”
