Present Armenian leader Robert Kocharian came forward as a candidate for President today. His candidacy was proposed by an initiative group of 287 citizens of the country. These include representatives of "Dashnaktsutyun," "Orinats Yerkir" and the Republican parties. Let us note that at present there are four presidential nominees in Armenia: leader of People's party Stepan Demirchian, chairman of "National Self-Determination" association Paruyr Hayrikian, political scientist Aram Karapetian supported by "Constitutional Right" association and Armenian President Robert Kocharian.
