Premium YouTube coming soon

YouTube's long-rumoured subscription service could be about to materialise, as the latest reports are pointing to an October launch, according to Digital Spy.

According to Re/code's often-reliable sources, the video network has told content creators to brace themselves for the launch of a premium YouTube.

Paid accounts are aimed at those who feel that YouTube would be a better place without adverts, giving them access to uninterrupted playback and exclusive content.

Signing up for a premium account is said to grant users access to other premium Google services, like the full version of the YouTube Music Key streaming service.

Google is believed to be introducing YouTube subscriptions because it is under pressure from publishers to monetise the service's massive user base.

The web giant is holding a press event tomorrow (September 29) to unveil its new Nexus smartphones.
