Alliance, a new Armenian airline, plans to launch flights in March 2016, the company's founder and chief executive officer told reporters on Friday, October 9, ARKA reports.

According to Ararat Sargsyan, the airline was licensed by the Chief Aviation Department and is now seeking to acquire OCAO membership to be allowed to start flights.

Sargsyan said Alliance has leased two Russia-manufactured Sukhoi Superjet - 100 (SSJ-100) aircrafts, currently deployed in Zhukovsky near Moscow, adding also that the airline plans to expand the fleet by four more planes by 2017. The first flight is scheduled for March 27, 2016.

14 people currently work at Alliance, all of whom, including Sargsyan, used to work in now defunct Armavia air company.

Alliance will initially fly to Moscow, Beirut and Tehran, planning to add more routes to other Russian cities, as well as Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan.

Sargsyan declined to name the investors, saying only they were from Russia.
