Adidas 3D-printing bespoke running shoes

Finding a pair of running shoes that fit just right can be as hard as tackling your first 10K. Sportswear giant Adidas is looking to put an end to this, however, revealing plans to make 3D-printed shoes a thing of reality, Digital Spy reports.

Having come up with a way of creating a 3D-printed midsole - the part of the shoe that takes the impact - Adidas is looking to give you the pro-athlete treatment by bringing bespoke kicks to the masses.

In the future, the company hopes customers will be able to simply pop into a store for foot measurements and a treadmill-based gait analysis, with bespoke running pumps to be 3D printed out there and then on the spot.

According to Adidas, the newly-showcased Futurecraft 3D printed shoe is just the company's "first chapter" in a 3D-printed push.

However, although bigging up its efforts, the company is remaining tight-lipped on the exact nature of the breakthrough, stating it uses "a unique combination of materials and process".
