Disney, Open Bionics team up for superhero-themed bionic hands

A brand new line of Disney-themed bionic hands aim to help young amputees feel like superheroes, Digital Spy reports.

Disney is partnering with Open Bionics to create a range of medically-approved prosthetic devices decorated with imagery from Marvel, Star Wars and Frozen.

Youngsters who love the Marvel Universe can get a prosthetic designed to look just like Tony Stark's Iron Man glove, while lightsaber patterns and snowflakes adorn two other devices.

Each Jedi bionic hand is created in coordination with Lucasfilm's ILMxLAB, right down to the intricate design work and LED lights.

Open Bionics hopes to release the fully-functional product at low cost, so that children around the world can have easy access.

More themes are expected in the months and years ahead.
