Blocks Wearables' modular smartwatch hits Kickstarter

Blocks Wearables' modular smartwatch has moved a step closer to reality as the firm has taken to Kickstarter to get its customisable wristwear off the ground, Digital Spy reports.

The Blocks smartwatch allows users to cherrypick the features that are important to them by adding components for GPS, mobile payments, and more.

Those who pledge $195 on the crowdfunding service will receive the core watch component, which is compatible with iOS and Android devices.

Investing $250 or more will get backers the watch and four additional modules, which can be swapped in and out according to personal preference.

Blocks is working on additional modules, covering things like fingerprint scanning and cellular data connectivity, and the door is open for third-party manufacturers to create components of their own.

The modular smartwatch is set to ship next May, providing the Kickstarter campaign goes off without a hitch.
