George Clooney to helm Coen Bros crime noir drama “Suburbicon”

There’s a hot package fast coming together at TriStar. According to Deadline, George Clooney is in talks to direct Suburbicon, a script by Joel and Ethan Coen that will be produced by Joel Silver. It’s a noir drama in the vein of the Coens’ breakout film Blood Simple, with this one being a small crime drama set in the 1950s.

Clooney’s relationship with the Coens spans such films as Intolerable Cruelty, O Brother, Where Art Thou?. Clooney, who is part of the ensemble for the upcoming Coen Brothers-directed Hail, Caesar!, just produced Our Brand Is Crisis, which reunited him with his Gravity co-star Sandra Bullock. Clooney most recently directed Monuments Men.
