Facebook revamping notifications

Facebook has become more like Google Now after revamping notifications to make alerts more useful and personalised - in the U.S., at least, Digital Spy reports.

The social network's apps now serve users with card-based notifications displaying sports scores, TV reminders, and important updates from their friends.

There will also be optional location-specific alerts, such as the weather, restaurant recommendations, and movie listings for local cinemas.

Users can customise the service, deciding which cards are displayed - so you won't be bombarded by football scores if you happen to hate sports.

"Every day, people use their notifications to keep up-to-date with their friends and family. We've heard feedback that people wanted to add important information that they can easily see, all in one place," said Facebook in a blog post.

Facebook is gradually rolling out the update to users on iOS and Android devices in the U.S., but there is no word on a UK release.
