Paul King is back to write and direct the sequel to 2014's Paddington, Digital Spy reports citing Deadline.

The Mighty Boosh director, who took charge of last year's hugely successful film, will work on the story for the follow-up with Horrible Histories' Simon Farnaby.

King will again team with producer David Heyman and StudioCanal on the movie.

Paddington earned more than $260 million at the global box office, making it the highest grossing family film released by a non-U.S. studio.

It starred Hugh Bonneville, Nicole Kidman, Julie Walters and Sally Hawkins, with voice work from Ben Whishaw, Michael Gambon and Imelda Staunton.

Speaking to Digital Spy at February's BAFTAs ceremony, King hinted that a follow-up will likely draw from one of author Michael Bond's novels.

"We'd love to do another one, there's lots of Paddington books and source material," he said. "He's a great character to write for and direct so I'd love to do more. I really hope we can make it happen."
