Armenian troops ready for any developments at contact line: Minister

Azerbaijani ceasefire violations have decreased, reaching the minimum in the last two weeks, Armenian Defense Minister said, according to Tert.am.

At a parliament briefing with journalists, Seyran Ohanyan cited the neighbors’ internal problems, the parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan and Turkey, in particular behind the decrease in violations.

“The situation is under control. We continue analyzing the situation, with the Armenian armed forces, the Defense Army, in particular, ready for any developments,” Ohanyan said.

In response to a question on the upcoming meeting between the Armenian and Azerbaijani Presidents, the Minister said escalation is possible.

Commenting on the OSCE Minsk Group Co-chairs' generic statement after their visit to the South Caucasus, Ohanyan said that the Co-chairs’ work ensured maintenance of ceasefire and the “no war, no peace” situation.

Ohanyan stressed that it’s time that thorough international investigation identified the culprit behind the ceasefire violations.
