Keith Richards has revealed The Rolling Stones are planning to record a new album in April - their first in over a decade, Gigwise reports.

The band released their 24th studio album, A Bigger Bang, back in 2005. Though they've continued to tour since then, they've not produced any new material. If Keith Richards has his way though, that's about to change.

The guitarist released his third solo album, Crosseyed Heart, in September - but he's not given up on the idea of recording with his band again. He already revealed during a live Q&A his hopes for a new record.

Now, speaking to The Sunday Times Magazine, he's revealed that the band met in London recently ahead of their forthcoming South America tour. "These guys aren’t getting any younger, but at the same time, they’re getting better," he explained. "I’d love to shove them in the studio in April, hot off the road."

The septuagenearian also told the magazine he never thought he'd get "this far." He said, "It’s my turn for growing old. I never thought I’d get this far. Now, I have to think about this and wonder what to do with it. I don’t know, man."
