Venice Fest hit “Courted” sells across Europe

Gaumont has racked up strong sales across Europe with Christian Vincent’s romantic drama “Courted”, which competed at Venice and scooped two awards for its star Fabrice Luchini and screenplay, Variety reports.

Vincent’s follow-up to “Haute Cuisine,” “Courted” has sold to Studiocanal (U.K.), Spain (Surtsey) and Italy (Academy 2). Gaumont is now closing Poland and Turkey, among other territories.

Gaumont had presold the pic ahead of its Venice premiere to Brazil (California), Canada (AZ Films), Switzerland (JMH), Greece (Oden), Benelux (Victory), Sweden and Denmark (Njuta) and Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand (Suraya).

Produced by Mathieu Tarot’s Albertine Prods., “Courted” centers around the relationship between a tough yet revered criminal court judge (Luchini) and a woman (Sidse Babett Knudsen, “Borgen”) he’s quietly admired for years and who happens to be serving on a jury in a trial involving the death of a baby.
