After tapping Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Zac Efron as male leads, Paramount's "Baywatch" seems ready to expand its cast. As AceShowbiz reports citing Deadline, the movie sets a shortlist of actresses who will test for a female lead.
The actresses included on the "Baywatch" cast shortlist are Ashley Benson ("Pretty Little Liars", "Spring Breakers"), Alexandra Daddario ("San Andreas", "True Detective"), Nina Dobrev ("The Vampire Diaries"), Shelley Hennig ("Teen Wolf", "Unfriended"), Bianca Santos ("The DUFF", "Ouija"), Alexandra Shipp and Denyse Tontz ("Big Time Rush", "Dog with a Blog").
The site notes that they don't know much about the number of open parts. They also suggest that some of the actresses on the shortlist could take different roles if they don't get the lead.
Seth Gordon is directing the film with a recent draft penned by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift. "Baywatch" will reportedly offer a comedy-heavy take and become loosely connected to the original series. Official release date has yet to be announced, but the movie is scheduled to arrive in the U.S. in 2017.
