Georgian Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Energy Kakha Kaladze suggested forming a regional energy network jointly with Armenia, Russia, Turkey and Azerbaijan, Georgian media report.
Speaking at the Tbilisi-hosted Energy Charter forum, Kaladze said that the South Caucasus countries “have experienced economic and social collapse, political and civil conflicts, blockades” following the dissolution of the Soviet Union.
Moreover, the Minister described Georgia as the region's main initiator of energy cooperation.
Georgia and Russia cooperate in the sphere of energy despite the lack of official diplomatic relations. Armenia has no diplomatic relations with either Turkey or Azerbaijan.
