HTC Vive VR delayed over major technological breakthrough

The disappointing news recently broke that the HTC Vive VR headset was having its release pushed back to April 2016, but it might not be the bad news it first seemed, Digital Spy said.

The delay was due to "a very, very big technological breakthrough", according to comments from CEO Cher Wang at the Vive Unbound Developers forum.

This breakthrough was seemingly so significant that the developers decided to scrap the original version and focus on building the consumer kit with this mysterious technological advancement applied.

"We shouldn't make our users swap their systems later just so we could meet the December shipping date," said Wang (via Engadget).

We will find out what this means exactly at next month's CES tech trade show.
