Guy Ritchie's "Knights of the Roundtable" delayed till 2017

Guy Ritchie's "Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur" is no longer slated for release next summer. Warner Bros. has pushed back the film, which is set to star Charlie Hunnam, from July 22, 2016 to February 17, 2017, AceShowbiz reports.

The project is expected to kick off a franchise about the Knights of the Roundtable. Other cast members include Jude Law, Astrid Berges-Frisbey, Katie McGrath, Djimon Hounsou, Eric Bana, Mikael Persbrandt and Annabelle Wallis.

Thanks to the delay, the King Arthur film avoids competition with Paramount's "Star Trek Beyond", though it's now scheduled to open against two anticipated sequels, Sony's "Bad Boys 3" and Fox's "The Maze Runner: The Death Cure".

To fill the July 22 slot, New Line's horror flick "Lights Out" starring Teresa Palmer has been moved up from its original September 9, 2016 release date. Tom Hanks' film "Sully" now occupies the September 9 date.
