Moretz turns action hero in The 5th Wave as a survivor of a brutal alien assault on earth – although her brother's fate isn't so clear.

Teaming up with a fellow teenager named Evan (Alex Roe), Cassie tries desperately to save her brother and repel hordes of alien invaders.

Spider-Man star Tobey Maguire is a key figure in bringing The 5th Wave to life as an executive producer, while the project counts Akiva Goldsman (The Divergent Series: Insurgent), Susannah Grant (Erin Brockovich) and Jeff Pinkner (Fringe) among its screenwriters.

The 5th Wave zooms into cinemas on January 22 in the UK and the U.S.
