Rolling Stone previews Alabama Shakes' "Austin City Limits" set

Austin City Limits kickstarts the second half of its 41st season January 2nd with a ferocious six-song performance by the Alabama Shakes. Before the episode airs, Rolling Stone unveiled an exclusive preview of the concert with "Don't Wanna Fight," which was nominated for Best Rock Song and Best Rock Performance at the 58th annual Grammys.

The Austin City Limits episode was filmed on October 2nd – which happened to be Shakes frontwoman Brittany Howard's birthday – so the band was especially fired up for their second ACL appearance. The group split the hourlong program with Los Angeles R&B band Vintage Trouble, with the Shakes' performance focusing on the group's Album of the Year-nominated Sound & Color.

Check out a searing, stirring rendition of the band's "Gemini" as a web exclusive, Rolling Stone said.

Following the Alabama Shakes/Vintage Trouble episode on January 2nd, the second half of the 41st season of Austin City Limits continues January 9th with an hour-long episode devoted to Kendrick Lamar. On January 16th, Ryan Adams and Shakey Graves will share an ACL episode, followed a week later by Angelique Kidjo.
