Adele's “25” named 2015's best-selling album

Adele's "25" is still reigning the Billboard 200. The record is now spending its sixth consecutive week at the chart's No. 1 with 363,000 equivalent album units collected in the week ending December 31. That sum includes 307,000 in pure album sales, AceShowbiz reports.

The record has sold a total of 7.44 million copies in the U.S. and it only needed two months to do so. It's officially the best-selling album of 2015 and the biggest seller since 2004, when Usher's "Confessions" closed out the year with 7.98 million.

Next on this week's Billboard 200, Justin Bieber's "Purpose" keeps its position steady at No. 2 with 217,000. Twenty One Pilots' "Blurryface", which made its debut at No. 1 last year, re-enters the top 3 from last week's No. 11 with 79,000 thanks in large part to discounts in the iTunes Store and the sales of its single "Stressed Out".

One Direction's "Made in the A.M." jumps from No. 6 to No. 4 with 75,000. Fetty Wap's self-titled set rounds out the top 5, soaring from No. 21 with 70,000 units. The Weeknd's "Beauty Behind the Madness" and Selena Gomez's "Revival" follow behind, bowing at No. 6 and No. 7 with 69,000 and 57,000 units, respectively.

At No. 8 is Chris Brown's "Royalty" which plunges from last week's No. 3 with 55,000 in its second week. Taylor Swift's "1989" slips one rung to No. 9 with 54,000 while Bryson Tiller's "T R A P S O U L" flies from No. 33 to No. 10 with 53,000. Tiller's project previously only reached No. 11 when it debuted on the chart last October.
