Berlin Film Festival rolls out 9 new competition titles

The 66th Berlin International Film Festival unveiled nine new competition titles Monday, January 11 including Thomas Vinterberg’s The Commune, Mia Hansen-Love’s Things To Come and Danis Tanovic’s Death in Sarajevo, Deadline reports.

Tanovic previously won the Berlin jury grand prize and best actor Silver Bears in 2013 for An Episode in the Life of an Iron Picker.

Also joining the main official section are Portugese filmmaker Ivo M. Ferreira’s Letters from War, Iranian filmmaker – and Berlin stalwart- Mani Haghighi’s A Dragon Arrives, the feature length docu Fire at Sea by Gianfranco Rosi and Lav Diaz’ A Lullaby to the Sorrowful Mystery. Rounding out the additions is Tomasz Wasilewski’s United States of Love.

The festival kicks off February 11 with the world premiere of the Coen Bros’ Hail, Caesar! starring George Clooney, Josh Brolin, Channing Tatum and Scarlett Johannson. Other titles previously announced include Jeff Nichols’ Midnight Special, starring Kirsten Dunst, Michael Shannon and Joel Edgerton.
