Karabakh dismisses Turkey’s stance on conflict

The Nagorno Karabakh Republic considers Turkish PM’s remarks on the conflict irrelevant, given Ankara’s numerous similar statements in the past, a spokesperson for the NKR President told Panorama.am.

Turkey’s Mevlut Cavusoglu had earlier said that normalization of Turkish-Armenian relations is impossible without the settlement of the Karabakh conflict.

In response to a question on relations with neighboring countries, he said Armenia has “occupied” 20% of Azerbaijan’s territory.

He further noted that the Nagorno Karabakh conflict concerns Turkey too.

“Such statements reveal the true nature of that country,” spokesman Davit Babayan said. “When speaking about Armenia’s so-called “occupation,” Turkey should bear in mind its own expansionist policies as well as appropriation of culture and material values of other nations.”

Referring to Turkey’s Genocide against Armenians in the early 20th century, the spokesman said: “Isn’t this a crime against humanity? Turkey continues being the aggressive and fascist country it used to be, unwilling to accept that only penitence will ensure the legitimacy of its existence.”
