Apple hikes App Store prices in seven countries

Volatile exchange rate shifts around the world have forced Apple into an App Store price hike in seven countries, Digital Spy reports.

This is bad news for iPhone and iPad owners in Canada, Singapore, Russia, South Africa, New Zealand, Israel and Mexico, where increases are being introduced.

The cost of apps and in-app purchases is going up in these territories within the next 72 hours.

Affected users with ongoing in-app subscriptions will be notified before the next payment goes out.

The price hikes come just a few months after similar pricing adjustments were made in Australia, Sweden and Indonesia.

But it isn't all bad news for customers in New Zealand and Canada, as Apple has introduced a lower 99 cents pricing tier in those countries.
