Having decided it was never going to compete with the likes of the iPhone 6S or upcoming Samsung Galaxy S7, Panasonic has dropped the call-making capabilities from its innovative device and instead shifted its focus solely towards connected cameras, Digital Spy reports.
Imaginatively dubbed the Lumix CM10, the resulting device is a CM1 just without a 3G connection.
Android 5.0 Lollipop still runs the show alongside a 4.7-inch 1080p display, so there's still plenty of on-device image editing options. There's 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, and a Snapdragon 801 processor too, so this thing's no slouch.
Importantly, on the imaging front, the 20-megapixel, 1-inch sensor is enhanced by a Leica-made 10mm (28mm-equivalent) f/2.8 lens.
The bad news doesn't end at phone-culling either. While the Lumix CM10 sounds like a solid option for anyone in the market for a standalone connected camera, sadly it's currently available only in Panasonic's native Japan.
And even in its homeland, only 500 units of the device will be produced a month, making it more of a niche product.
