Kevin Smith's new movie, Yoga Hosers, debuts at the Sundance Film Festival this weekend, and with it, Kevin Smith's new comic book — a special prequel to the movie, to be distributed at the movie's premiere The Hollywood Reporter said. The entertainment news agency has an exclusive preview.
The Yoga Hosers movie features Smith's daughter Harley Quinn Smith and Johnny Depp's daughter Lily Rose Depp as Colleen Collette and Colleen McKenzie, two Canadian yoga fanatics who team up to deal with a supernatural threat that unleashes an army of monsters on an unsuspecting Manitoba. Both Smith and Depp are reprising the roles they originated in Tusk, Smith's 2014 horror comedy.
The comic book, illustrated by Jeff Quigley, tells the story of the first meeting between the two Colleens — and allows for some old-fashioned Canadian accent puns at the same time (The pair's origin is referred to as an "eh-rigin" on the comic's cover, for example.)
Yoga Hosers the comic is produced by Dynamite Entertainment, the New Jersey-based publisher that has previously worked with Smith on reboots for The Green Hornet and The Six Million Dollar Man.
"The relationship we have with Kevin is incredibly rewarding," CEO and Publisher Nick Barrucci told THR. "His talent brings fans to the industry, and when he asked if we would be a part of this event, of course we said yes!"
The comic book prequel will be exclusively available at the movie's premiere at the Sundance Film Festival Sunday, Jan. 24. Here's a glimpse of what to expect.
