Ira Sachs’ “Little Men” co-lead signs with 3 Arts – Sundance

One young man’s Sundance Film Festival is gaining some nice traction even before the film he’s in opens. A day before Little Men makes its Park City debut, co-lead Michael Barbieri has signed with 3 Arts Entertainment, Deadline learned.

The NYC-based film from Sundance alum Ira Sachs is the feature debut of the just turned 14-years old Barbieri. Little Men premieres at the Eccles Theatre on Monday evening for the first of its six screenings at the fest.

With gentrification as a larger theme, the film focuses on two best friend boys who become pawns in a lease battle between their parents. Barbieri Theo Taplitz co-stars as the sensitive Jake to Barbieir’s seemingly fearless Tony. Greg Kinnear and Jennifer Ehle play Jake’s parents while Paulina Garcia is Tony’s Mom. Like he did in Love Is Strange and the Sundance Grand Jury Prize Winner Forty Shades of Blue, Sachs also makes NYC itself a character in the drama

WME is handling sales of Little Men.
