Miley Cyrus joins Woody Allen's secretive Amazon series

Miley Cyrus is back to small screen, joining Woody Allen's secretive TV show. Veteran actress Elaine May is also cast on the six-episode series which is set in the '60s, AceShowbiz reveals.

Allen revealed the project a year ago, saying, "I don't know how I got into this. I have no ideas and I'm not sure where to begin. My guess is that Roy Price will regret this." Price is the Vice President of Amazon Studios which is producing the series. Allen wrote the script and will direct all episodes in addition to starring. Shooting will begin in March for a premiere later this year.

Allen told Deadline in May last year that Amazon gave him a total creative freedom, huge budget and a season guarantee. But all of those became a pressure for him. "I have regretted every second since I said OK," he said. "It's been so hard for me. I had the cocky confidence, well, I'll do it like I do a movie ... it'll be a movie in six parts. Turns out, it's not. For me, it has been very, very difficult. I've been struggling and struggling and struggling. I only hope that when I finally do it - I have until the end of 2016 - they're not crushed with disappointment, because they're nice people and I don't want to disappoint them."

May had worked with Allen before in 2000's film "Small Time Crooks". She had been busy filling her years with writing and directing such movies as "Heaven Can Wait" and "The Heartbreak Kid". Meanwhile, this is Cyrus' first gig in Allen's project. She claimed her fame as Hannah Montana on Disney's series and went on starring in films like "The Last Song" and "LOL".
