Coldplay rolls out “A Head Full of Dreams” U.S. tour dates

Coldplay will invade football stadiums this summer after the band announced their first seven U.S. shows in support of their new LP A Head Full of Dreams, Rolling Stone reveals.

The trek, the band's first since 2011/12, kicks off July 16th at MetLife Stadium outside New York. "A Head Full Of Dreams was written as a record to be performed live. We are beyond excited to play these shows across the U.S," Chris Martin said in a statement.

After its opening gig, the jaunt will then continue on to Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, Los Angeles and Dallas. The band will end the tour September 3rd at San Francisco's Levi's Stadium, where they'll also perform February 7th as the headliners of the Super Bowl 50 halftime show alongside guests Beyoncé and Bruno Mars.

Martin will discuss the band's preparations for the big performance on the January 31st episode of CBS Sunday Morning, while the week of February 1st will find the singer dropping by The Late Late Show With James Corden for some Carpool Karaoke.

Citi will hold a pre-sale for Coldplay's U.S. dates starting January 29th, with a public on-sale to follow on February 5th.
