Jaume Collet-Serra, Liam Neeson reteam for “The Commuter” thriller

Jaume Collet-Serra has boarded The Commuter, committing to make the thriller his next directorial outing, with production to start this summer, Deadline said.

He reunites with Liam Neeson, with whom he teamed on the global hits Non-Stop and Unknown. The film also brings Serra back with Studiocanal and The Picture Company’s Andrew Rona and Alex Heineman, who are producing this and also made the other two films. Studiocanal was very aggressive in bringing the director back into the fold and keeping the tandem together. Serra will also be executive producer along with his Ombra Films partner Juan Sola. Didier Lupfer, Ron Halpern and Shana Eddy will oversee for Studiocanal.

In the Byron Willinger and Phil de Blasi-scripted The Commuter, Neeson plays a businessman on his daily commute home, who unwittingly gets caught up in a criminal conspiracy. It threatens not only his life but the lives of those around him. Lionsgate is releasing the film domestically. Serra is currently in post on In The Shallows, a thriller for Sony.
