Oscar-winning “Separation” helmer filming “Forushande” in Tehran

Rolling of Oscar-winning “A Separation” and “The Past,” Iranian director Asghar Farhadi is now shooting the Teheran-based drama “Forushande,” which Arte France Cinema has just boarded, Variety reports.

“Forushande,” which marks Farhadi’s seventh feature, follows a young couple whose relationship abruptly turns violent. The movie examines the slow transformation of a calm and inoffensive man into an uncompromising and cruel human being.

“As in my previous films, ‘Forushande’ addresses how social challenges can propel the downfall of some people,” said Farhadi.

Like “A Separation” and “The Past,” Forushande appears to weave social, moral and political themes through the personal journey of its protagonist. The movie is set against a contemporary backdrop.

Memento Films Productions, which produced “A Separation” and “The Past,” is producing with the Iranian director’s shingle Farhadi Film Production. Memento is also handling international sales and will distribute the project in France.
