Kindle e-reader update introduces new home screen

Amazon is keeping its Kindle e-reader line alive with a software update that introduces a brand new home screen to your device, Digital Spy reveals.

The refreshed layout highlights your most recent books, reading list and recommendations - making it easy to access the content you're after.

The update also brings quick access to the settings menu and simplified sharing, as well as making it easier to tell which books aren't installed locally.

Amazon is bringing the new features to the 2014 Kindle, the 2013 and 2015 Paperwhites and the Votage in the coming days.

"Your Kindle will soon receive a free, over-the-air software update. Readers are always looking for their next favourite book, and this update provides new ways to help you easily find new books and new authors that you're sure to love," said Amazon in a blog post.

"This update will happen automatically, and won't affect the e-books on your device or in your library."

The update is expected to take its time to reach everyone, but you can read about the new features in full on Amazon's website while you're waiting for it to drop.
