Aurora Perrineau has joined the cast of Sony's Passengers, The Hollywood Reporter said.

Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence star in the space-bound drama, which is set on a spacecraft transporting thousands of passengers in cryogenic sleep to a distant new planet. The film centers on a passenger that awakens 90 years before anyone else and decides to wake up a female passenger.

Perrineau will play the role of Lawrence's character's best friend.

The Imitation Game helmer Morten Tyldum will direct the project, which co-stars Michael Sheen and Laurence Fishburne.

Perrineau starred in last year's Jem and the Holograms and will be seen in the upcoming dystopian love story Equals, starring Nicholas Hoult and Kristen Stewart.
