“Time After Time” H.G. Wells’ Time Machine drama pilot adds cast

ABC’s “Time After Time” pilot is filling out its cast. “Revenge” alum Josh Bowman and “UnReal’s” Freddie Stroma will co-star in the drama from Kevin Williamson, Variety has confirmed.

A reboot of the novel, which inspired the 1979 movie of the same time, “Time After Time” uses the book’s story as a starting point, chronicling the epic adventures of young H.G. Wells and his Time Machine. Stroma will play H.G. Wells and Bowman will play Jack the Ripper.

H.G. Wells’ (Stroma) nemesis, Bowman’s character John Stevenson is a brilliant and charismatic surgeon who lives a double life as the infamous serial killer. In the movie, the role was played by David Warner and Wells was played by Malcolm McDowell.

The pilot marks a reunion for ABC and Bowman, as the English actor starred in the network’s soapy drama “Revenge,” which was cancelled last season after four seasons. Bowman’s character Daniel Grayson, a fan-favorite among the series’ passionate viewers, was a regular from the time of the show’s debut until he was killed off during the final season.

Stroma, who’s also English, appeared in many of the “Harry Potter” movies and “Pitch Perfect,” but came to his first major leading role in the first season of Lifetime’s “UnReal,” playing the suitor on Everlasting, the show’s parody of a “Bachelor”-type dating show. He’s also been cast in the upcoming sixth season of “Game of Thrones.”
