Google lets people use Outlook, Yahoo inside Gmail

Google has more than 1 billion active Gmail users as of this month. And now, the company launched a new tool Wednesday, February 17, Gmailify, which lets you use your Outlook and Yahoo inside Gmail without changing your @yahoo.com or @outlook.com address, VentureBeat reports.

If this news sounds familiar, that’s because Gmail for Android introduced limited support for non-Gmail emails last year; this is an extension of that release.

Google now lets you keep @yahoo.com or @outlook.com addresses, use it within Gmail on Android and the Web, and take advantage of standard Gmail features like spam control, support for Google Now Cards, and inbox tabs.

If you’d like to Gmailify your email, there are some restrictions. Only Android Gmail users can turn the feature on for now, Google’s support page says — although once you do so on your phone, you’ll see the change on the Web, too. And while Gmailify only works with Yahoo, Hotmail, and Outlook emails, Google says it plans to “add other email providers to Gmailify in the future.”
