"Blade Runner" Ridley Scott’s sci-fi sequel release date set

Warner Brothers has set a date for the upcoming "Blade Runner" sequel. It's scheduled to arrive in the United States on January 12, 2018. It will open at the start of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend, facing off animated flick "Gnomeo and Juliet: Sherlock Gnomes", AceShowbiz reports.

The second installment of Ridley Scott's 1982 sci-fi film is set to be directed by Denis Villeneuve ("Sicario", "Prisoners"). Harrison Ford is signed on to reprise his role as Rick Deckard and Ryan Gosling has been confirmed as the first new addition to the cast.

The story of the untitled Blade Runner project is expected to take place several decades after the conclusion of the original movie which tells a story about a retired member of a police officer corps called blade runners who hunt down replicants on Earth.
