Well aware that its flagship Xperia Z5 is too pricey for some people's liking, Sony has revealed a pair of wallet-friendly alternatives at MWC 2016, Digital Spy reports.

The Xperia X and Xperia XA cherry-pick features from their range-topping sibling, presenting them in a more affordable package.

Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 chip and 3GB of RAM, the Xperia X is no slouch in the specs department, also coming with a 5-inch 1080p display packing Triluminos technology, a 23-megapixel rear camera, 13-megapixel front-facing snapper and either 32GB or 64GB of storage.

There's also a biometric bonus in the form of fingerprint scanner on the right hand side, for those who have bought in to this form of security.

The Xperia XA is a more modest offering, packing a MediaTek MT6755 octa-core processor and 2GB of RAM, along with a 5-inch edge-to-edge 720p display, a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front facing shooter.

Both handsets feature microSD support, Qnovo Adaptive Charging Technology to maximise battery life, and similar form factors to the Xperia Z5, albeit with more rounded edges.

The Xperia X rage will be available this summer in green, white, black and rose gold.

Prices are yet to be announced, but expect them to be easier on your bank balance than the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S7 and LG G5.
