Gigwise revealed the latest in the long list of opportunities David Bowie turned down - having his music featured on the Trainspotting soundtrack.

Since his death at the age of 69 last month, stories have emerged of David Bowie turning down collaborations with several massive bands. When Coldplay's Chris Martin wrote to Bowie, asking him to lend his vocals to a three-part harmony on the band's new song, he simply replied, "It's not a very good song, is it?"

Dave Grohl also recently revealed that he asked Bowie to contribute vocals to a song he was working on for a film, but was promptly refused.

Now, it's been revealed that Bowie turned down Danny Boyle's request to include his music on the soundtrack to the 1996 film Trainspotting. The soundtrack included the likes of Iggy Pop, Underworld and Lou Reed.

In an interview with Dazed, Tristram Penna, who helped compile the soundtrack, said, "Andrew and Danny were desperate for Bowie - if memory serves, [they wanted] 'Golden Days' for the toilet scene."

The scene was eventually soundtracked by Iggy Pop's 'Lust For Life'.
