New airline, Armenia to launch first flight on April 21

The newly-established Armenia airline promises cheap air tickets for diverse destinations, Tert.am cited the company's shareholders as saying.

Addressing a news conference on Wednesday, March 9, Tamaz Gaiashvili and Robert Hovhannisyan said they intend to offer cheap flights, affordable to Armenia’s average citizens.

Israeli capital Tel-Aviv will be the airline's first destination on April 21.

“Armenia airline will fly to Russia – Moscow and other cities – as well as to Tehran, Prague, Tel-Aviv, Kiev, Minsk, Barcelona, Larnaca and London,” Gaiashbili said, promising the company’s best efforts in meeting the Armenian clients’ demands.

Hovhannisyan added, in turn, that the company received its certificate a fortnight ago, waiting to get a license to carry out its first flight.

The company has hired Armenian pilots who are already in Yerevan, with the engineering personnel too set to arrive in the near future.

“Our services will be competitive with those of other airlines,” the Georgian shareholder said, adding that the tickets’ prices will start from 49 euros.
