HBO, "Game of Thrones" partner with charity to raise money for refugees

HBO and "Game of Thrones" are partnering with a prominent charity to help raise money for refugees, CNN reports.

The International Rescue Committee announced the effort, dubbed #RealmtotheRescue, on Sunday with a public service announcement posted on YouTube. It features a handful of the show's cast members discussing the IRC's work and asking for donations.

Fans can also enter to win a trip to join the cast at the Los Angeles premiere of the show's sixth season.

The announcement comes days after the show's newest trailer was released -- which compiled 30 million views in less than 24 hours, according to Variety.

The ads will be posted online and run through the season, which premieres April 24, according to The New York Times. The goal is to raise $1 million.

The International Rescue Committee is a nongovernmental organization that helps those affected by humanitarian crises around the world.
